How often should your business post on social media?
Consistency beats volume. A realistic posting plan for small teams that want results without burning out.
"Post every day" is common advice, and for most small businesses it's unrealistic. The truth is simpler: a schedule you can keep up beats an ambitious one you abandon after two weeks.
A realistic starting point
| Platform | Aim for |
|---|---|
| 3–4 posts a week, plus stories when you can | |
| 3 posts a week | |
| 2–3 posts a week | |
| TikTok | 3+ short videos a week if video suits your brand |
You don't need to be everywhere. Pick the one or two platforms where your customers actually spend time and do those well.
What to post
Use a simple mix so your feed doesn't feel like one long advert:
- Show your work: finished projects, products, before-and-afters.
- Teach something: quick tips your customers will find useful.
- Behind the scenes: your team, your process, your day.
- Social proof: reviews and customer stories (with permission).
- Offers: promotions and calls to action, around one in five posts.
Make it easier with a content calendar
Plan a month at a time, batch-create your content in one session and schedule it ahead. It turns social media from a daily chore into a monthly task.
